I set off from London on a drizzly Tuesday morning, armed with a coffee and a good novel, as I
expected to settle in for a long train journey. My novel was forgotten as the train sped it’s way through the beautiful countryside and my initial thoughts of a long ride to Grantham were incorrect, the journey taking only 1 hour 5 minutes from King’s Cross.

It was a short drive from the station to The Grange Spa and there is ample parking for customers. I was greeted by Matt, the spa’s co-owner and as he led me through the beautiful open plan entrance, he told me the romantic story about how the Grange was born. Matt & Emma met whilst travelling through the US and they returned to UK to pursue their dreams to build a spa together from scratch. There is a photo album that they put together to tell the story of how their little piece of heaven in the country came to be.

All guests receive a welcome drink, so in keeping for my quest to unwind, I selected a relaxing C
hamomile tea from the extensive Tea Pigs menu, which ranged from popcorn to chilli tea – for the more
daring tea drinker.

If you fancy some down time with a good book between treatments, then you are invited to persue the library for a title that takes your fancy. Alternatively, lie back on a 4 senses lounger and allow yourself to be enveloped in bliss in the quiet room, which is a haven of tranquillity.

My first treatment of the day was The Grange Foundation Facial using Germaine de Capuccini products. The Grange brochure describes this as ‘a five-star facial’ and I have to second that description. The facial focused on a deep cleanse and a pressure point technique massage along with a scalp massage. The Germaine de Capuccini products lovely aromas were permeating the air. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep during the treatment and awoke at the end to a lovely perfume smell.

Lunch followed, and the relaxing atmosphere continues as your food is served to you in your robe and slippers. The food was delicious and there is a farm shop bistro if you wish to supplement your lunch or take any locally sourced produce home with you.

After lunch I returned to one of the large treatment rooms for a Thalgo Indocéane full body treatment. Gemma, my therapist with magic hands, took me on a journey across the world. Starting with an
Egyptian foot ritual, followed by a Mediterranean full body exfoliation and ancient Indian full body
massage. My journey ended with an Asian body wrap with scalp massage, which made me (the woman who finds it very hard to unwind) doze off again.

My day didn’t end there. I followed my treatments with a swim, experience showers and steam room in the thermal area. I decided that I felt too relaxed to hit the gym, I’ll save that for another day!

I headed back to London wondering if I may have dreamed the whole day. Oh well, only one way to find out……”One ticket to Grantham please!”
